Problems starting OCHRE?

In order to use the eCHD, you will need to run OCHRE with Java in the background. Java regularly issues security updates that may prevent OCHRE from running. You can override the security settings and open de OCHRE app as follows:

Automatic security override (Mac)

  1. In the Finder, locate the OCHRE app.
 Don’t use Launchpad to do this. Launchpad doesn’t allow you to access the shortcut menu.
  2. Press the Control key, then click the OCHRE icon, then choose Open from the shortcut menu.
  3. Click Open.
 The OCHRE app is saved as an exception to your security settings, and you can open it in the future by double-clicking it just as you can any registered app.

Manual security override (Mac)

  1. Go to the apple symbol in the top left corner and click it.
  2. Go to System Preferences and click it.
  3. In System Preferences, click the Java Panel.
  4. In the Java Control Panel, click the Security tab.
  5. In the Security tab of the Java Control Panel, click Edit Site List.
  6. In the Exception Site List screen, click Add.
  7. Insert url: https://ochre.lib.uchicago.edu.
  8. Click OK (do not click Add).
  9. In the Java Control Panel, click OK.
  10. In the screen that pops up and asks 'do you want to run this application', tick the box ‘I accept the risk …’ and click Run (as many times as necessary)

  1. Search for Java and click ‘Configure Java’.
  2. In the Java Control Panel, click the Security tab.
  3. In the Security tab of the Java Control Panel, click Edit Site List.
  4. In the Exception Site List screen, click Add.
  5. Insert url: https://ochre.lib.uchicago.edu.
  6. Click OK (do not click Add).
  7. In the Java Control Panel, click OK.
  8. In the screen that pops up and asks 'do you want to run this application', tick the box ‘I accept the risk …’ and click Run (as many times as necessary).
